a. Heart & Stroke Foundation;
b. Cancer Foundation / Juravinski Hospital (Cancer); Hamilton General Hospital (Heart); Joseph Brant Hospital; McMaster University Medical Centre; Carpenter Hospice (Burlington): Bob Kemp Hospice (Hamilton).
c. Ronald McDonald House Charities (Hamilton Location)
d. CAMH (Centre for Addiction & Mental Health)
e. ROCK) (Reach Out Centre for Kids)

Since we have BCB members - in the past and up to the present - who have experienced the death of loved one(s) in their immediate family due to significant chronic / long term health diseases, and relied on available resources for support (i.e. a / b / c), those are organizations always appealing for funds for either scientific research (for the "cure") or improve on their services.
I am also aware that there are members who face challenges either personally / has a family member - spouse / son / daughter / grandchild(ren) - who must cope with issues like depression, bi-polar; anxiety; ADHD, etc. that look for extra support / resources in addition to their family doctor/specialist prescribing the "suitable" medications ("hit or miss") to manage these types of conditions.
As a community band supporting any of the above charities, BCB will be duly acknowledge in their newsletter and social media platforms; therefore, publically enhances the band's own profile for servicing other's respective needs.

They are a big charity with many donors. After we made a donation to Ronald McDonald House, they sent BCB begging letters just like the ones many of us probably receive from many charities, - i.e., "personalized" advertising mail, aka form letters. They probably had no idea we had a fund raising concert, we could have sent them a cheque in the mail and they would have treated BCB the same way.
I prefer local charities with reps who can speak about their cause at the concert. Many of the charities Kamara lists would do that.
They have lots of donors so we giving a couple hundred here and there didn't seem significant - I think that's why we tried to redirect to more local charities like the Food Bank, Halton Women's Place, Nelson Youth Centre and Halton Learning Foundation.

I am open to exploring other charities especially if we are able to increase our ability to donate through partnerships, sponsorships, considering higher ticket prices for more fancy charity events, etc.
