Just a small but significant amendment: Changed "2023- 2024 AGM" to "2023 AGM" under section 4. Next Meeting

Actually, to fit into the requirements of the Ontario Not-for-Profit Act, it is deemed to be "The Annual Meeting of the Membership of the Burlington Concert Band ". The usage of the term "general" is technically not suppose to be used anymore.
Just went through this with the Hamilton Signals Association (a Veterans group). Thank goodness that one of the members is a Lawyer who pointed this out for us.

@Pualanasn Thanks for the information. More info is good.
BCB is a registered charity, so not simply a "not for profit", and I haven't a clue if the same Ontario rule applies.
I tie myself up in knots trying to do things "by the book", but I honestly don't believe there is enough person-power checking up on charities and non-profits to catch even a fraction of mistakes made, or even outright misleading returns. So, I'm not going to sweat it! (aside from attending a one hour online CRA webinar to learn about "Books and Records" on June 8 - I could have used that info years ago!)

@cliftonjvI checked the Ontario web site...BCB is listed as a Not-for-Profit organization.

Hi @Pualanasn As a registered charity BCB is also a not for profit, and we are incorporated too. I am stepping down as treasurer very soon, and I'm going to let you take up these wording issues with the appropriate people on the executive. I don't know if changing the name of our AGM to an AMM would require a by-law change; @gordon would be your go to person on that. Also, you might want to pass on the information about the website with the Ont rules for non-profits that you have gathered to the BCB executive @shewis @Dannomyte @executive . In any case, I have a feeling that this is not urgent enough to deal with before the AGM on Monday, and as I commented above, I don't think the powers that be are going to notice anytime soon.
                Thank you for your efforts.
