For me it would have to be have to be "Maker's Mark" by Ryan Nowlin. Wicked passages...

Slava! Julian got us to play this and I remember although it was frustrating to work through as a band, it sounded great by the last few rehearsals and performance.

@gordon When I first learnt and rehearsed "Dambusters" under the baton of Don Alan it was (and often still is) a challenging piece for me. To have the saxes sound as "one" in the measures where we were prominent with the melody while maintaining the very fast tempo - that often seemed to be Alan's preference ... - was indeed a true test of endurance in breath and finger control.

I subbed in on trumpet with the DVO last year, and we played Pictures at an Exhibition with @jeff-reynolds . The Great Gate is epic!
With the BCB, it would be Dmitri Shostakovich’s Festive Overture. We weren't perfect, but were pretty dam good!
Personally, I've been working on Beethoven's 6th symphony. The horn solos are legendary, even 250 years later.

Played that piece back in high school as a Viola player. It is a very interesting piece, since we also played it in BTTB as a Field show piece later that year!

I played the trombone solo in a band arrangement of Ravel's Bolero once. It was terrifying, but what a payoff when it went well!
