What piece would you most like the BCB to play, and why?

@gordon I thought it was the free medication samples and cute baby.
@lloydr I wonder if they have arrangements of separate songs - having a vocalist for some of the pieces would be popular (although they would need to be quite powerful and mic'd) - or we could do it as a sing-a-long! I see on brief search there is a "This Is Me" and "Never Enough" arrangements (but they sounds a bit simple and too easy for us , also sounds like 15-20 people playing total).~ Lisa

William Byrd Suite by Gordon Jacob. A long time favourite of mine. It has 6 unique movements of varying character (including a march @gordon) written for wind band by one of the genre's first champions. I think it sounds distinctly British and I often hum the tunes. The Eastman Wind Ensemble has a good recording of it on YouTube if you haven't heard it.

I love this arrangement...
Featuring the saxophone section, a cool trumpet solo, wicked drumming, and a rocking trombone melody....this is would be popular with our audience.
It's a big band piece (those who also grew up under Don Allan will know why I like this) and makes you want to get up to dance!

I nominate "Charge of the Light Brigade" and "Victory at Sea" because both paint vivid pictures and have rich chords. Maybe it is my military days too. They would do well around Nov 11th.

Almost any Broadway show. They are always melodic, feature different sections of the band and usually have solos for varying instruments as well. We could make a whole concert out of a collection of them.

@wjerome Ah, I agree... the only downside, is that arrangements of an entire piece from a musical are far and few between. The arrangements are predominately medleys.

@julian Actualy I only meant the "overtures" as they contain much of the familiar stuff to us and our audience. Our library has quite a collection of these.
